And now, words from our leader ...

Dear COMJIG folks:
Suffice it to say, our inaugural programming at AEJMC San Antonio last week was a resounding slam-dunk. Absolutely top-notch. In the words of Liz Hanson, "Community journalism may be the hottest thing in journalism education." Amen, sister.

FYI, COMJIG now has sixty (count em, 60) dues-paying members. Not too shabby for a startup.

Congratulations to all officers, organizers, moderators, discussants, presenters, reviewers and panelists (as well as COMJIG folks who showed their support by attending our eight sessions!). For those of you who couldn't be there, we will be posting session capsules here later this month.
And, we are already planning great programming for '06 in San Francisco. If you have a hot idea, zap it to me or Peggy Kuhr (our Vice Head) pkuhr@ku.edu before Sept. 1.

Again, a heartfelt thanks to all!
Jock
